He brings the lecture hall into the Dare.
Professor Blessing Nyahuma is a Zimbabwean theologian, university lecturer and public intellectual whose work sits at the meeting point of faith, culture, family and human development. He holds a doctorate from the University of Bamberg in Germany and is a graduate of Solusi University, the University of Zimbabwe, the University of Bamberg and the University of Tübingen. He has taught at Solusi University since 2016 and has pastored in Zimbabwe and Germany.
He is the Executive Director of the Bridging Gaps Foundation, whose work he leads with an emphasis on self-reliance rather than hand-outs. Under his direction it has donated tractors and equipment to Seventh-day Adventist schools in Matabeleland for income generation, and has supported Solusi University's teaching and farm operations.
As a scholar he has contributed to academic volumes on religion and politics in Zimbabwe and on religion and development in Africa, while his regular newspaper column on human development, leadership, family life and the formation of character reaches a wide general readership. He has also spoken abroad, including at Babcock University's Week of Prayer.
On Dare Remachinda he is the scholar at the table — the one who asks men to think past cultural stereotypes about manhood, and who speaks with particular clarity on mental health.
"As men, we should not suffer in silence. If something is troubling you, speak to someone and share your burdens. Mental health challenges are real and we must encourage one another to seek help and not allow problems to push us to suicide. There is always someone willing to listen and support you." — Dr Blessing Nyahuma of Dare reMachinda, ZBC News
