Give to Dare Remachinda
Donations keep the platform going — the studio, the events and the work with young men. This is a gift, not a payment for a product or a service, and it buys you nothing in return.
Suggested amounts are to be set by the client. Currency to be confirmed.
How payment works
Honest status: what is built, and what has to be switched on
The intended flow
Payment is taken through an African payment provider, chosen so the show can collect in local currency. The default is Onafriq (formerly MFS Africa), a participant in PAPSS — the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System — which pushes a payment request to the buyer's mobile-money wallet and settles into the show's own account. Our commission is carried on that transaction as its own fee, so we never hold the client's money, which is the arrangement that would create a regulatory problem.
It is deliberately not a case of taking payment into a ScotReach account and paying the show later. Flutterwave is documented as the drop-in alternative where a hosted card/mobile-money page is wanted.
What is already built
- The whole buyer journey: catalogue, basket, quantities, delete-a-line, donation amounts, one payment step.
checkout.php— server-side basket validation, commission calculation and the provider (Onafriq/PAPSS) request.- Prices are re-read on the server, so a customer cannot change a price in their browser.
- No secret key is in any page: the provider secret lives in
drm_payment_config.php, one directory above the public web root, exactly as this estate already does for its SMTP credentials.
What has to happen before a single payment can be taken
- Agree the provider and the commercial terms. Onafriq (PAPSS) is the default; Flutterwave is the swap-in. Fees are quoted per merchant and are not published, so they are a client decision, not ours to assume.
- Onboard Dare Remachinda with the provider and complete the identity and bank checks. That needs the show's own details and their agreement to the provider's terms — it cannot be done from our side.
- Agree the commission rate and who pays the provider's fees. Client and platform decision, not ours.
- Set the prices and the currency (ZMW, or ZWL/USD). Nothing sells until they exist.
- Add the provider callback so that a completed payment triggers fulfilment (download link, shipping, ticket email). Without it money can be taken and nothing delivered.
